Five Ways to Manage Stress
3 min read.
Biologically, you're wired to be more stable or more neurotic.
Stable people have it easier without a doubt, but even the most neurotic people can utilize effective ways to manage stress and live a more steady life.
In this post, we go over 5 strategies you can start on today!
Strategy #1: Keep Your Blood Sugar Levels Stable
Did you know that your blood sugar levels are correlated to stress?
When your blood sugar dips low due to lack of food, you're going to feel agitated or as I like to call it HANGRY (hungry + angry).
One of the best ways to start your day is to eat a breakfast high in protein and fats to help to stabilize your blood sugar and in turn stabilize your stress levels.
You'll also want to avoid simple carbs because they cause a quick blood sugar spike that's followed by an equally quick dip in your blood sugar levels.
Roller coaster blood sugar will agitate you and leave you feeling stressed.
A good tip is to keep healthy protein rich snacks on hand to combat low blood sugar.
By keeping your blood sugar stable, you'll be better equipped to handle daily stressors.
Strategy #2: Choose to Accept What You Can't Control
The stress we feel often has its origins in things that are out of our control.
Ask yourself whether there's anything you can do to make your situation better.
Once you reach a definitive no, let it rest.
Easier said than done right?
It won't be a one time thing but it's an important habit to develop.
Strategy #3: Choose to Control You Can.
In direct contrast to Strategy #2, there are plenty of things that we have more control over then we might realize.
I'm not saying that you need to be a control freak over every part of your life, but just ask yourself this question.
"Is there anything I can do to make the situation that's stressing me out any better?"
If so, do it right then.
Sometimes it's as simple as shooting a text or email off to someone but once you do it, you're stress will decrease significantly.
Strategy #4: Track It
Sometimes it's hard to identify what's causing us to feel stress.
To combat this, it's important to notice your environment and what's happening.
If you're feeling stressed and don't know exactly what it is, consider noting what's going on around you.
Then try and find the commonalities in your notes to pinpoint your stressor.
Once you do that, you can find ways to avoid what causes you stress.
Consider noting down the 5 following things each time you're stressed. After doing it a few times, you'll likely be able to pinpoint your stressor.
1. Location
2. Time
3. Emotional State
4. Other People Around You
5. Immediately preceding action
Strategy #5: Breathe
Don't overlook this one!
Breathing is such a simple and effective to combat stressful situations.
There are biological reasons it helps dissipate stress including changing the way you feel by slowing your heart rate, allowing more oxygen into the bloodstream, and releasing ‘feel good’ endorphins.
Breathing can be done anywhere and that makes it a powerful tool.

We created a secret weapon to help people do just that.
It's a hydration + protein drink mix called ProLoco.
Unlike other common choco/vanilla protein drinks, it's refreshing and light like a sports drink.
With 8 grams of protein per serving and zero sugar, it's the perfect tool to help manage those blood sugar levels when you start feeling hangry!
